About EstimateAhead
EstimateAhead builds independent cost planning tools for major home projects. Our calculators combine published cost benchmarks, project specific selections and regional economic data to produce practical planning ranges before homeowners request contractor quotes.
- Independently modeled. Estimates come from our own published model. Referral partners, if any, have no input into how estimates are calculated.
- No signup. Every calculator is free to use without an account.
- Answers are not stored. Calculations happen in your browser, and your answers are not saved or sent to us.
- Not a contractor. EstimateAhead is not a contractor or a licensed estimator, and does not provide quotes or guarantee final prices.
What our estimates leave out
Structural repairs, mold or water damage remediation, accessibility modifications, custom glass beyond standard enclosures, and city level price differences are not priced individually. Use your contractor quotes for these.

Editorial responsibility and corrections
EstimateAhead publishes its research under the EstimateAhead editorial name. We maintain the cost model, prepare the published comparisons and explain the data sources. We do not claim that these estimates were reviewed by a licensed contractor, nor that they represent actual quotes. Individual contributor names are not published.
We aim to separate published external benchmarks from our own modeled results, state the model version and limitations, and correct factual or calculation errors when identified. Material changes to the model should be accompanied by a version note and updated comparisons; a new article date does not mean the cost model was recalibrated.
